About Me

Hi! My name is Alizé (a-li-zaye) Perez, and I’m a filmmaker born and raised in Miami, Florida.

Growing up, I was always immersed in the arts, from drawing and painting to sculpture and photography. Creating became how I explored myself and the world around me. The summer before my senior year of high school, I took a filmmaking class at NYU, and something finally clicked. I realized storytelling didn’t have to be something I did alone; a whole world was waiting for me to create alongside others.

I recently graduated with a BFA in Film & Television Production from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, along with a minor in the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. My time at NYU gave me the space to collaborate, experiment, and, more than anything, start figuring out what I value as a filmmaker.

My work spans narrative film, music videos, and commercials, but I’ve found a deep love for directing. I keep finding myself drawn to stories about relationships and how much of who we are is shaped by the people around us. I’m fascinated by the ways we protect ourselves, the versions of ourselves we perform, and what happens when that exterior begins to crack. But I’m just as interested in characters who are bold, liberated, messy, and unapologetically themselves. I want the freedom to make work that feels deeply personal, but also work that lets me play, experiment, and have fun.

As a deeply sentimental girly, I have a feeling that intimacy, in our families, cultures, relationships, and even with ourselves, will always find its way into what I make. More than anything, I hope to keep creating from a place of curiosity, using filmmaking to understand myself and the people around me a little better.
